We are thrilled to share that researchers Fernando Zvietcovich and Etsel Suarez, representing the Biomedical Optics and Biophotonics Research Group (GIBIO PUCP), have been awarded the Gold Medal with The Congratulations of The Jury at the prestigious 50th International Exhibition of Inventions Geneva, held from April 9–13, 2025 at Palexpo, Geneva, Switzerland.
The award was given for their invention titled:
“Method and system for the diagnosis and stage classification of ocular diseases considering the characterization of biomechanical factors in corneas obtained through a multi-excitation module,”
an innovative proposal for the non-invasive diagnosis of ocular diseases using Optical Coherence Elastography (OCE).
🧠 This invention is the result of a collaborative effort within the GIBIO multidisciplinary team, made up of undergraduate and graduate students and faculty, under the leadership of Dr. Fernando Zvietcovich, Director of the group.
💡 This achievement highlights GIBIO’s commitment to cutting-edge biomedical research and its mission to develop impactful technologies for global visual health.
🙌 We extend our heartfelt thanks to PROCIENCIA, OPTICA, and the Wellcome Trust for their generous financial support, which made this milestone possible. We also deeply appreciate the ongoing guidance and collaboration from our national and international public-private partners.
Congratulations to the entire GIBIO team for this international recognition! 🥇🔬
