🔬 Scientific collaboration for the advancement of visual health in Peru

From the BioPhotonics and Biomedical Optics Research Group (GIBIO) at @pucp, we would like to express our sincere gratitude to Dr. Héctor Augusto Guillén Tamayo and Dr. César Oswaldo Bolívar Callata from the Guillén Tamayo Ophthalmological Center S.A.C. in Arequipa, for visiting our facilities on March 28 and 29.

📍During their stay, important experimental tests were carried out with our Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) system with Elastography, applied to ocular treatments such as cross-linking, for the validation of the system. These activities were conducted within the framework of the project:

"Development of the first optical coherence tomography system with elastography in Peru for the early detection of keratoconus and other eye diseases" (Code PE501082168-2023), funded by CONCYTEC.

This collaboration, led by PhD Fernando Zvietcovich, director of GIBIO and tenure-track researcher at our university, promotes technological innovation in the biomedical field and reinforces PUCP’s commitment to the scientific development of the country.

🤝 We celebrate these kinds of synergies that integrate academic research with clinical practice, to benefit the visual health of thousands of Peruvians.
